Trekking To Hill Tribe Villages - Experience with 3 Different Ethnic Minority

The best of Sapa will bring travellers unique experiences about different ethnic remote villages of the Red Dzao and the Hmong together with spectacular scenery of Sapa with mountains, rice fields, pine trees, waterfall.

Night 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai

In the evening, pick up at your hotel and transfer to Hanoi railway station to take a comfortable night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on the train.

Day 1: Lao Cai – Sapa – Ho Stream – Ma Tra – Taphin (B, L)

Train arrives at Lao Cai station (the last stop), you will be transferred to Sapa with 45 minutes drive. Then check in hotel if rooms are available, relax and have breakfast. After that, our tour guide will meet you at hotel and transferred to the trekking point – Ho Stream for your trip in a day to experience Sapa beauty and beautiful nature on every road you trek. A whole day trek follows the buffalo trails to visit the hospitality villages of the Black H’mong minority people at Ma Tra. Passing by a school with scenic view enroutes, picnic lunch will be served on the way.

After lunch, we continue our trek towards Ta Phin village where you will meet Red Dzao and Black Hmong minorities, two largest ethnic groups in Sapa. Stop by a house to talk with local people to know about their daily life, their custom and tradition. Then car take you back to Sapa, dinner at restaurant in town and night in hotel.

Trekking Road: 10 km in 4 hours

Day 2: Sapa - Lao Chai - Tavan (B, L)

Wake up, staring at the sunrise from mountain side through the hotel room window, you will feel very comfortable and relaxed after a wonderful night. Breakfast at hotel, then go trekking with our tour guide to Lao Chai and Ta Van. From Sapa, you will go on foot about 30 minutes to the trekking point where you will start your trek.

Trekking on the wet dirty trails with rock and mud to villages, crossing Muong Hoa stream to green and yellow terraced rice fields will give you an interesting feelings about the beautiful nature. During the trek, you will have chance to meet the ethnic people in these villages such as Hmong and Giay and to get to know about their unique culture together with their daily life activities. Lunch will be provided in Lao Chai and you will be transferred back to Sapa after finishing your trek in Tavan. Overnight in hotel.

Trekking road: 12km 5 hour walking/ 1 hour lunch/ 30 minute driving.

Day 3: Sapa - Cat Cat Waterfall – Sin Chai – Lao Cai (B, L)

Breakfast in hotel, check out then take a short trek to Cat Cat village just 2 km away from Sapa. Cat Cat village is known as an aged – old village located in the beautiful scenery with Cat Cat waterfall and terraced rice fields. This is also place where Hmong people settle down with life depending on agriculture and handicraft. This village is one of the ethnic minority villages which remains unique custom that you hardly find in other villages. Coming downstairs on the rock stairs, you will have an opportunity to see with your eyes the ethnic Hmong women sitting by the looms and weaving the colorful brocade which is dyed by Indigo leaf. In addition to that is handicraft products such as gold and silver jewelry produced under skillful blacksmiths. The trek will offer you a good view with Cat Cat waterfall next to Hydro – Electric Power Station built by French in 1925. Photo should be taken in here.

Picnic lunch will be provided. After that, keep trekking to Sin Chai village, located right at the foot of Hoang Lien Son Mountain range. Sin Chai village is surrounded by mountains and hill and is a home of Hmong people. End of your day trip with transfer back to Lao Cai to take a night train back to Hanoi. End of your trip.

Trekking road: 5 km 2 hour walking/ 1 hour lunch/ 20 minute driving.
